What we now term metaphysics and parapsychology began in the 1800's as Spiritualism. Andrew Jackson Davis was giving lectures on vast subjects unknown to him under hypnosis while public investigations were being conducted of the rappings of a spirit in the home of the Fox Sisters in New York. Spiritualism stimulated the scientific investigations into the areas considered paranormal, rather than relegate phenomena to blind faith or superstitious beliefs. We now have a wealth o

All of us want peace and to live good, happy lives. We also want those things in the lives of those we love. In states of anxiety when there are challenges, we often turn to prayer, reflecting the way we think about God. In building the internal foundation of spiritual understanding and spiritual awareness, knowing that one can have what they reach out for, then one is invoking those qualities that we perceive to be of God. Your inner vision is in direct contact with that whi

In this lecture, Rev. Weston Bailey continues a discussion of color. This is one of the most important areas of study, because color influences consciousness. It is a tremendous vibration of healing within the biological organism, as well as within the levels of our consciousness - those facets that make up the total I. Violet in particular is focused upon. Scientists have been able to measure the vibratory rate of various colors. Violet is the highest vibration of the color

What is conveyed in this lecture is how to gain greater control of the vacillations in thought and feeling. In other words, being more sure of your thoughts and your feelings. Most of the dis-ease that exists in our culture, that eventually manifests as a disease, starts as a disharmony between the etheric body that we call the mind, and the etheric body that we call the emotional self. That which stimulates the functioning of the mental processes is the color energy yellow.

Have you ever had the feeling that there's something important that you must do in this lifetime? There is - to perfect yourself in consciousness. Studies have shown that emotional imbalances can affect physical health. How do we learn to think and feel in positive ways? This lecture explores three areas; action, color and attitude. When positive changes are made, there is healing within the subconscious self, clearing a pathway to the infinite, creative genius within, your u

This lecture honors women on Mother's Day. The holiday came into existence from the work of Julia Ward Howe, a famous poet and reformer during the Civil War, who authored The Battle Hymn of the Republic. She called for a Mother’s Day of Peace dedicated to the eradication of war. In her Proclamation, she felt that mothers should gather to prevent the cruelty of war and the waste of life, since mothers bear and know the cost of their sons. Weston honors women and their overlook

This lecture explores aspects of the historical treatment of women as second class citizens - the roles they have been relegated to and those they have been excluded from. Women have attained rights through self-assertion. Metaphysics and parapsychology have played a role in this. An example: The right to vote in the United States was eventually granted to women after communications from seances by the medium Margery Crandon. True liberty and freedom in the New Age will come

This lecture was given on Palm Sunday and begins with a reading from the book of Matthew on Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, signifying wealth rather than poverty. Additional Bible verses shared give one pause to consider if they are truly the words of God. Thomas Paine's Age of Reason is examined alongside this reflection. Changes in the wording of the Bible down through history, as well as metaphysical study into seance activities give a deeper perspective into what may or may

During Easter and beyond, much attention is given to the cross and Jesus’ crucifixion. This lecture brings to our attention Jesus’ resurrection, reminding us that life is continuous. There is an abundance of scientific evidence proving the continuity of consciousness and that personality survives the death experience. Weston shares his writing paraphrased and inspired by Maurice Barbanell’s This is Spiritualism, regarding the conflict between religion and science, as well as

Religion has been steeped in phenomena. At the founding of many major religions existent in our world today was the manifestation of what is called the paranormal. These experiences have not been well understood and are often relegated to the realm of miracles or labeled evil. They are neither, rather a limited understanding of the principles or the Natural Laws upon which these things function. In this lecture, Weston defines the categories of phenomena and describes in deta

Does human personality survive the death experience? This is the most important question facing all of us. Some disbelieve it and some accept it by faith. How do we know? The accumulation of research in this area is extensive - from deathbed visions and near death experiences to apparitions, communications through various forms of mediumship, past life research, and from the life of Jesus as recorded in the Bible. After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to many. Truth is what

Those that find themselves in these studies of metaphysics and parapsychology have often separated from the dogma of traditional religions, where authorities interpret what is true or not and require blind faith and belief. Religious leaders have not trained people to investigate for themselves concepts they may not completely understand, such as reincarnation. There are also revealed religions - claims of a new religion revealed through paranormal faculties. Metaphysics and

The lecture is a response to an article entitled New Age Movement's Metaphysical Threat to Christian and Jewish Faiths. Rather than being a threat, metaphysics and parapsychology are an extension to all major religions - an extension of understanding. If we examine the scriptures of religions, we find in them that which is studied on a conscious and scientific level in metaphysics; that which has been considered paranormal, such as clairvoyance, and clairaudience as was demon
